1. Hardware
- Mavic 3 Enterprise (M3E) with Battery Charged
- RC Pro Enterprise (Model: RM510B) Remote Controller (RC)
- D-RTK 2 Mobile Station (DRTK2) (Not required if using NTRIP Network RTK, PPK or GPS only)
- Micro SD card (to be inserted into Mavic 3 Enterprise), UHS Speed Class 3 required, Video Speed V30 or above preferred.
2. Firmware/Software Version Verification and Update
- Aircraft and Remote Controller Firmware: Turn on the RC and ensure it connects to the internet. If the prompt "All modules need to be updated" shows above the "Enter Camera View" button, then firmware on either the RC or the M3E is not up-to-date. Tap on the prompt and follow the instruction to update firmware properly.
- D-RTK 2 Mobile Station Firmware: Download the DJI Assistant 2 (Enterprise) software, and connect the DRTK2 to the computer via its USB-C port. Then follow the instruction to update the DRTK2 firmware to the latest version.
2. Camera Settings
Before starting a mapping mission with the Mavic 3 Enterprise, some camera settings need to be set correctly to ensure the quality and accuracy of the data. Please make sure to follow the steps below:
1. Select "4:3" as the image ratio, and "JPG" as the image format.c* We recommend using the JPG format to capture data for photogrammetry applications. Saving RAW images would significantly increase the image size, reduce the number of pictures allowed to be captured, and increase the time for processing and data transfer.
2. Make sure to select "AFC" (Auto Focus Continuous) as the focus option, and set auto exposure "AE" as unlocked.
3. Select camera mode and select "M" as manual mode, select auto ISO and aperture according to the surroundings, it is also recommended to set the shutter speed as faster than 1/500s.
4. Under the Camera View, go to camera settings and make sure the "Mechanical Shutter" option is enabled and the "Dewarping" option is disabled. *Turning off the "Mechanical Shutter" would cause the camera not to use its mechanical shutter, record camera timestamp, or satellite observation files for the PPK process. The M3E would write its camera lens distortion parameters into its image metadata. Turning off the "Dewarping" option would correct the lens distortion effect by cropping out some border regions of the image. However, DJI Terra can apply these parameters automatically and correct its distortion while maintaining a larger field of view; thus no need to enable this option.
5. If using the micro SD card for the first time, also make sure to format the micro SD card under the camera settings page
3. NTRIP Network RTK and D-RTK 2 Mobile Station
Settings
DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise requires the RTK module to work with NTRIP Network RTK or DJI
D-RTK 2 Mobile Station. Make sure to install the RTK module on top of the M3E and
securely fasten screws on both sides, and do not over-tighten these screws. Once the
RTK module is securely installed, an additional RTK setting tab should show up under
the aircraft setting page would pop up as shown below:
To use RTK for surveying work, make sure to enable the "RTK Positioning" and
disable the "Maintain Positioning Accuracy Mode" options:
1. Custom Network RTK (use your own NTRIP account)
1) In the RTK settings page, choose "Custom Network RTK" as the RTK service
type, and then enter account address, access port, user name, password and identify the
mount point would like to use. Then tap on "Save" once the information is correctly
filled.
2) Tap on "Save". If the status for aircraft RTK positioning is indicating "Fix", then it
means the RTK service is working normally.
2. D-RTK 2 Mobile Station
1) Refer to the user menu of the DRTK2, make sure switch the DRTK2 to
Mode 5 and set the DRTK2 on a known WGS84 coordinates then finish the
mobile station setup and link the mobile station with the M3E aircraft.
2) Turn on the mobile station and wait until it finishes satellite searching. Open
the RTK settings page and choose "D-RTK2 Mobile Station" as the RTK service
type. If the status for aircraft RTK orientation and positioning are indicating "Fix",
then it means the RTK service is working normally.
3) Offset the know coordinates of the D-RTK 2 Mobile Station: On the bottom of
the RTK settings page, tap on "Advanced Settings" select "GPS Coordinate Input"
and then enter the known WGS84 coordinates and tap "Save" to confirm. Make sure
to offset the altitude of the point on the ground by adding the DRTK2 mobile
station height of 1.8 m with the DJI stock DRTK2 rod. When using a third-party
manufactured rod, the height offset needs to be premeasured.
4) Confirm that the mobile station coordinates are successfully changed to
offset value under the RTK status chart and that RTK positioning indicates "Fix" as
the RTK service is working normally.
