UTEST Grinder Maintenance

UTEST Grinder Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential to ensure the optimal performance and longevity of your UTEST Grinder. By following these simple yet crucial steps on a daily and quarterly basis, you can enhance the efficiency and reliability of your equipment.

Daily Maintenance
1. Monitor Water Flow:
  1. Ensure that water flow is sufficient to lubricate the grinding wheel and specimen adequately.
  2. Contact the Measur technical support team if pressure appears low.
2. Post-Use Cleaning:
  1. Clean the table, water restraint shield slots, and clamping mechanism with a spray gun after each use (refer to Figure 1).
  2. Optionally, use compressed air to dry the components after cleaning.

(Figure 1)

Quarterly Maintenance
1. Apply lubrication to the grinder wheel bearings (refer to Figure 2).

(Figure 2)

2. Lubricate pivot arm bearings (refer to Figure 3) using a grease gun or a paintbrush with magnalube or standard bearing grease.

(Figure 3)

3. Lubricate the table rails lightly with some grease and a paintbrush (refer to Figure 4)

(Figure 4)

4. Clean the optical sensors (non-cabinet model) by dusting off any debris (refer to Figure 5). You can gain access to the sensors and rails by removing the table.

(Figure 5)

5. To remove the table, lift off the 4x8" cylinder guide and remove the nine Allen key screws with a 4mm Allen key (refer to Figure 6). After the screws are removed, push the table all the way forward and lift straight up. You will now have access to the rails and optical sensors.

(Figure 6)

6. To reinstall the table, follow the above steps in reverse order but please be sure that the middle optical sensor is in line with the middle screw on the table. This ensures it is in the correct starting position. (refer to Figure 7)

(Figure 7)

7. Check for concrete buildup along the spray nozzles, waterfall holes. If there is debris built up, clean with a stiff brush or a small screw driver (refer to Figure 8).

(Figure 8)

8. Check belt for table/grinding wheel advancing motor for cracks and wear (refer to Figure 9).

(Figure 9)

By incorporating these daily and quarterly maintenance practices into your routine, you'll ensure that your UTEST Grinder operates at its peak performance, providing accurate and reliable results. Regular upkeep not only extends the lifespan of your equipment but also contributes to the overall efficiency of your testing processes.
