How to Update AVSS Parachute System

Intro

Welcome to Measur's knowledge base! In this article we will show you a step by step guide on how to keep your AVSS parachute system up to date with the latest firmware. 

Note: Before starting the update procedure, please make sure both your PRS and your activation remote are fully charged

Step 1 - Download New Firmware From AVSS

At the time of publishing this article, the latest firmware available is Version 3.123.1.1. Make sure to check AVSS's website periodically to make sure your system has the latest firmware installed.

Step 2 - Remove the MicroSD Card from the PRS


Step 3 - Backup and Remove Old Firmware

Upon opening the files on the MicroSD card, you will see the following file structure:

  1. It is recommended to copy the current contents of the SD card as a backup onto your computer before performing any updates.
  2. Once the backup is completed, make sure to delete the "915" folder as it contains the old firmware. NOTE: make sure there are no other .sfb files on the root of the MicroSD card.

Step 4 - Installing New Firmware

Next "extract all" the Zip folder you downloaded from AVSS's website to your desktop so you can easily find the new firmware file folder labelled "915."

Then click on the extracted folder and copy the new SFB files over to the root of the MicroSD Card **Do not change the file names**

  1. Once the files have been copied over, eject the the MicroSD card using the "Eject button" at the top of the screen.
  2. Remove the MicroSD from your card reader and re-insert it into the PRS. The metal tabs of the MicroSD card are to be facing up. Gently press on the card until an audible click sound is heard and the card does not pop out.

Step 5 - Performing the Update

  1. Place the PRS back on top of your M300 and connect the FTS connector to the port on the drone.
  2. Power on the M300. The PRS should turn on automatically. If it does not, press the power button.
  3. Wait for the PRS LED to turn white indicating the firmware update is in progress. It will flash purple during the update process. (DO NOT POWER OFF EITHER UNIT DURING UPDATE)
  4. Wait for the PRS LED to turn yellow indicating a successful update.
  5. Being at least 2 meters away, turn on the remote controller and the LED on the controller will turn white indicating it is updating. (you may need to rebind the controller and PRS system, please refer to the manual on how to do so)
  6. Both LED's on the controller and PRS will turn green indicating the update was successful 
  7. Power down the M300, Remote and turn off the PRS.
  8. Turn everything back on and confirm the PRS and activation remote connect successfully and that both LED's are still green.
