1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 Product Description

The UTG-0422 is ideal for sizing large quantities of crushed stones, sand, gravel, slag, coal, coke, ores, pellets and similar materials. The screen shaker has a capacity of approx. 30 kg sample. The shaker has 6 screen trays and 1 pan capacity. UTG-0422 model is frequency and time-controlled.

Metal trays have 630x420 mm screening area and 667x452x67 mm sized. Screen trays with various aperture sized from 125 mm to 4 mm. Stainless steel wire cloth screen trays or perforated metal plate (steel) screen trays with round or square aperture are available on request.

UTG-0426 Soundproof Safety Cabinet is manufactured from sheet steel lined internally with soundproofing material to reduce noise and for protection from dust.

Screen trays and Soundproof Safety Cabinet (UTG-0426) should be ordered separately. The UTG-0422 is supplied complete with a pan (UTG-0425).

1.2 Units of the Device

UTG-0422 consists of a timer, a pan, a cover, a hydraulic jack, hydraulic pressure release knob, 2 cover fixing knobs. See Figure 1 for the locations of the all parts of the machine.

Figure 1: Parts of the UTG-0422

Hydraulic Jack: Hydraulic Jack is used to keep the sieves in a stable position, after locating each screen to its place. This is done by applying short strokes to the hydraulic jack so that hydraulic pressure firmly clamps the sieves.

Fixing Knobs: They are used to fix the cover placed on the device. Fully tighten the fixing knobs simultaneously to ensure that the cover is secure.

Load Unload Knob: Before the operation to supply hydraulic to the pump turn this knob to the “LOAD” position. After operation is done, by turning this knob to the “UNLOAD” hydraulic pressure that keep stable the sieves will be released. Therefore, sieves can be freely move for further operation such as weighting samples.

Pan: Pan is used to collect all of the underflow material of the last sieve located to the device.

  1. INSTALLATION

2.1 Environment

Make sure that the room in which the device is going to be placed have a proper mains supply which is in compliance with the machines specifications, and enough number of plugs for the connection of the device, PC/laptop, etc.

Check the voltage (V), ampere (A), frequency (Hz), phase (Ph), and power (W) of the UTG-0422 in Table 2.

Main electricity line must be freed from instabilities and repetitive power cuts for both the extended life of the device and the continuity of testing. Therefore, make sure that the mains supply is well grounded. If the power cuts are frequent or the grounding is not well enough, the use of an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is recommended.

Make sure that the device is placed in a clean and dry surrounding. Since small amount of dust can be generated due to sieving operation, be sure that room has adequate ventilation system. Direct contact of the device with the sunlight should be avoided. A conditioned room for example, will comply the above conditions and will result in the best operational performance and measurement results. Device should be well accessible from the front and the sides for connections, testing and maintenance.

In order to prevent inaccurate test results, the ground should be rigid enough to minimize vibrations or shocks. If there are any other testing equipment or a source that creates vibrations on the floor, UTG-0422 should be placed maximum possible distance to that source. Surface of the ground should be horizontal and smooth enough so that the horizontal and vertical alignment of the device are not shifted.

NOTE: If remote assistance will be required from the UTEST Technical Service Department, the room should have an internet access.

Open the wooden case without damaging the contents and remove all packaging materials. Check for completeness and damages if exist. Report any irregularities directly to the supplier. Take necessary precautions and carefully transport and place the device to its place. Remove the power cable.

  1. OPERATION
  1. Read the requirements of the related standard of the test.
  1. Prepare the sample for testing according to required standard.
  1. Lay the screens one under the other such that the screens which has the largest square holes is at the top and the others below in order have decreasing square holes.
  1. Check that screens are placed in correct order. Put the collecting tray (pan) under the screens.
  1. Turn the knob to the “LOAD” position. Use hydraulic jack so as to lock the screens firmly in their position. Avoid excessive tightening of the tie bar.
     6. Open the cover and place the sample on the top sieve.
WARNING: Avoid excessive loading on screens.
     7. Close the cover and fix it with using two fixing knob.
     8. After connecting the power cord, turn on the power switch from the inverter box.

  1. Press STOP button on the control unit once the operation is finished. Loosen the jack valve to put the screens out.

  1. MAINTANENCE
ELECTRIC HAZARD: It is important to care that the unit must be switched off and the main cable must be removed before starting any maintenance for user’s safety.

All safety devices must be functional at all times. Damaged protective covers must be replaced as soon as possible. When safety components are replaced, the protective devices are to be properly attached and tested.

We recommend that the device is cleaned of any particles and dust from the scattered specimen after the test with a damp cloth and brush to avoid incrustations which could damage the paint work.

As with all electrical equipment, machine must be used correctly and maintenance and examination must be performed at regular periods. Such precautions will guarantee the safe and sufficient functioning of the equipment. Periodically lightly oil the clamping mechanisms and rods.

Maintenance to the equipment is responsibility of the purchaser and must be performed as stated by this chapter. Failing to perform the recommended maintenance actions or maintenance performed by unauthorized people can void the warranty.

Lubrication: The use of the machine in very dust conditions will necessities more frequent cleaning and lubrication. 37 hydraulic oil type is used for lubrication. Drum, connecting rod, and upper flange should be lubricated regularly.

Wire Cloth of Screens: The screen is subject to abrasion from the motion of the sample and may eventually sag, which reduces effective screening area. The wire cloth should be periodically checked to ensure that it conforms to the standards. Abrasion due to normal use, as well as inadequate cleaning, may cause the wire cloth to be outside the limits given by standards well before its visual appearance has deteriorated.

The precision of the sieve opening respects the tolerances given by the respective standards, to guarantee constant performans. Each screen should be threaded with care necessary of precise necessary instrument.

5. TROUBLESHOOTING

Problems as noisy operation, excess vibration of the outer case and/or excessive running time are caused by faulty installation (inappropriate screen installation etc.), worn parts (such as V belt or piston O-ring) or overloading. In order to solve the problem, pump tie bar to tighten the screens and run the machine again. In case the problem continuous, it may because the screen is overloaded with excessive amount of sample. Decrease sample amount on the screen. In case the problem still occurs, it may because the machine is not on level. If sample gathers in one side or corner of the screens, it shows the machine is not on level.

Non homogenous accumulation is caused by incorrect fixing or loosening of one or more of the fixing down bolts. This will result in inefficient sieving. So, tighten the bolts on the side of screen where the sample has been gathered. Check that side of the screen is bended or not.

In case screens are not tighten enough, there may be oil leakage around the piston. If there is a problem like that, replace piston seal and O-rings with new once.
