Trinity F90: How To Calibrate The Magnetometer

If the heading of the Trinity F90+ is not correct, the magnetometer needs to be re-calibrated. The heading is checked before each flight. The heading is not correct if the direction of the Trinity F90+ displayed in QBase does not align with the direction of the Trinity F90+.

The magnetometer needs to be re-calibrated when the actual flight location is more than 50km away from the location where the magnetometer was calibrated before.

Always calibrate the magnetometer outside. Make sure no buildings, cars or other obstacles that distract the calibration are within 10 m (33 ft) around you.

Also make sure that no metal (like parking decks, steel buildings or other metal structures, ships, cars or other machines) or any devices causing electric or magnetic fields (power lines, generators, mobile phones) are close.

For the calibration, the main body of the Trinity F90+, the battery pack and the transmitter are needed. Please do not carry your mobile phone or similar items with you as they might disturb the calibration process.

1. Turn on the transmitter.
2. Connect the battery pack to the main body of the Trinity F90+ and power the Trinity F90+. The payload compartment must be attached to the main body of the Trinity F90+.
3. Ensure that the link between the Trinity F90+ and the transmitter is established.
4. Simultaneously move the sticks to the following position.

5. When the calibration mode is started the message Calib. Mag. is shown on the transmitter.

6. During the calibration, 200 measuring points are recorded. Move the main body as described below. The counter on the display of the transmitter counts up until 200.

7. An audio signal informs you about the successful calibration. Furthermore, the message FINISHED is displayed on the transmitter. If the Calibration was not successful, ERROR will be displayed. Please try again.
